Successful Marriage

For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh (Genesis 2:24)

Marriage is ordained by God for the start of a new legal and social unit of the community. It is his will for marriages and families to be successful. Below are the five keys of a successful marriage, courtesy of Rev J. John:

Respect – mutual respect is part of the foundation of an enduring & loving relationship. The alternative to respect is contempt and disregard which must be shunned among couples

Responsibility – Couples must take responsibility to fix any problem that comes their way; they should take responsibility for their actions and should look to the interests of others.

Relate – couples should spend more time together in order to strengthen the bond between them; this is becoming more difficult as more people spend more time at work and online!

Romance –  in the words of Rev J. John, “if there was more courting in marriage there would be fewer marriages in court”. Marriage is the institution which God has put in place for romance in its legitimate and deepest form.

Resolve – in order for a marriage to succeed both husband and wife must resolve and decide to be committed to make it work on a day to day basis. Nothing succeeds by chance.

We pray the blessed Holy Spirit to brood upon our marriages to renew beauty & glory
