Dominion Mandate – The Mandate for increase

And God said, let us make man in our image, after our likeness; and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth (Genesis 1:26).

From the very beginning when God created Adam and Eve, he gave them dominion (power and authority) over everything which he had created. In other words, every other creature was meant for mankind to use for their good and advancement. Accordingly, God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful and multiply, and replenish the earth and subdue it (Gen 1:28). We therefore begin this exhortation with a declaration that the grace to actualise the dominion mandate would avail unto all who read this piece in Jesus mighty name.

In furtherance of the above truth, the Bible is full of examples of people whom God raised from very small beginnings to positions of exceeding greatness in different spheres of life. Included in the long list are Jacob whom the Lord increased exceedingly with much cattle, maidservants, menservants etc (Gen 30:43); Job, who the devil could not but notice the mighty blessings of God upon his life (Job 1:10); and Jabez whom the Lord lifted from a position of sorrow and desperation to a man with an enlarged coast (1 Chronicles 4:9-10).

Mankind lost the capacity to exercise the mandate of dominion due to sin; this explains why obedience to the almighty God (the source of divine authority) is a prime condition for supernatural increase (Deut 28:1). As believers seek first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness, they receive the grace for increase and multiplication which results in the addition of all other things.

May the richly bless you, increase your barns, enlarge your coasts and make you a lender to nations.
