Dr Marcus Chilaka
Assistant Provincial Pastor
Dr Marcus Chilaka is a Health Management Consultant, Lecturer, Author, Researcher & serves as the Senior Pastor.
Dr Marcus started his professional practice as a biomedical scientist in the Nigerian public health service where he worked for 13 meritorious years from (1989 – 2002). He was already an Assistant Area Pastor in the RCCG before relocating to the United Kingdom to continue his academic and career development.
As an international scholar and researcher, Dr Marcus has been at various times lecturer in Health services management; Environmental and public health; and Health and Social Care. He has also been a Principal Consultant for a Health Management consultancy. Pastor Marcus combines his pastoral, academic and research expertise to explore the intersection of the Christian faith and public health institutions in their quest to improve the wellbeing of individuals and their communities. He is interested in investigations of religion as an important social determinant of population health.
Pastor Marcus has severed faithfully in different capacities within the leadership hierarchy of the Redeemed Christian Church of God in the UK (RCCG UK). He is currently an Assistant Provincial Pastor with national level responsibilities. In this role, he assists the Provincial Pastor to oversee about 70 parishes within the North West province of the Mission.
Pastor Marcus is also the RCCG National Ecumenical Officer (NEO) under Churches Together in England (CTE) and assists Pastor Agu Irukwu (Chairman RCCG UK) on ecumenical relations. He leads on the strategic initiatives to build and strengthen relations between RCCG and other Christian denominations and groups. Pastor Marcus also serves as one of the Directors of National Church Leaders Forum (NCLF); he is also the Chair of the Board of Trustees of Christ the Redeemer College (CRC), the education and training institution of RCCG UK.
